My brain hurts thinking about this. I race sports cars and have fought many fuel starvation issues running fuel cells. So why does the factory c4 pump assembly kick the pump up at a near 45 degree angle? The sock is basically on the forward face of the plastic tray on an angle. I pictured the pump sitting perpendicular to the tray but not the case. I'm mean..what's the point of the tray when the sock is rammed up against the front side of the tray?
The whole factory setup seems pretty dumb. The tray has no holes so you will never be able to use the last couple gallons of gas...I mean who would run it that low..but still. Its almost like gm was concerned with hard braking stalls when the tank was low. I get that. Losing your power brakes and steering in the middle of hard braking is less than ideal. I'm not an engineer, but still seems like they made a correction after the fact to fix some stalling issues...but who knows.
