Is there a top or a bottom to a glass sealed beam headlight or does it matter? I just noticed mine when the lights are popped up and on the engraved words on the bulbs are upside down.

Notice the tiny lugs cast into the back edge
Those will line up with the tin housing the light fits into
And yes you can put them in wrong

There's definitely a top. The low beams are focused slightly down and right to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. If you install them upside down they'll be aimed up and left which will make you the brunt of some pretty insensitive remarks.
