Default No Go

I went to take out the beast 94 Corvette Coupe and turned the key and "no go". When I put it away for the cold months I backed it up into the garage, took the battery out and closed up until I put the battery back in and turned the key and no go. I went to see if there were any codes--nothing---. Can anyone help me with suggestions of anything. I love to get it out before the snow comes again. Please and thanks. Now for the ones that do reply I am in and out of the office and I will reply back. It just may be a little time before I do . PLEASE and THANKS

Did you check the battery for voltage and make sure the cables are tight? You make no mention of the basics.

Barr94 - While there are some very talented people who frequent the forum - the number of mind readers is pretty low.

We need a bit more info to help. Did the engine crank over when you tried to start it ???? Did you get the starter solenoid click as it tried to engage the ring gear ?

What was the status of the Security Light (e.g. VATS status).

If the car wouldn't crank at all - IMHO the best thing to do would be to put a voltage gauge on the battery and check the battery voltage while someone else tries to start it. Double check that the battery terminals are clean, and tight, and see what the battery voltage is during the attempted start. If it drops below 9 Volts - no way the car will start. Batteries fail all the time. Did you hear the fuel pump run for about 2 sec, when you turned the ignition on ???

I did buy a new battery and no I did not test it to see if it was fully charged. When I tried to turn it over I did hear a click. Also I did not see anything that said anything about security. Does this have anything to do with the key? I appreciate everything that everyone has to say. Thanks for your time and tips, much appreciated. Please🙏 keep them coming.😀

Default Ugh!

I did put in a new battery and checked all the codes and reset them. Everyone of them showed the three dashes, jumped the clutch switch then turned on the key and all the dash lights came on and then I hear a click but-----no go. Now is there a starter relay for the 1994 LT1? And if there is-----where is it? Please🙏 help. Your thoughts are very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Clicking on the key turn would suggest a bad battery or starter, but I would find it unusual for either to go if it was working fine before you parked it.

Did you have any trouble starting it before you put it away? How was it stored? Any signs of mice activity under the hood?

I suggest starting with the basics: confirm the battery is fully charged, and check that fuses haven't blown.

Again, sounds like loose-corroded battery terminals..

I will try the things you suggested. I will get back. It might be a little later because the car is at the lake and I will not get back there for another two weeks. Thanks for your help.

The starter relay for my 91 is behind the dash cluster. For purposes of getting it out of the garage, I jumped the solenoid under the car on the starter with the key on, making sure it was out of gear and chocked, with parking brake on. It started and I got it out of the garage. I wired a momentary switch to the solenoid so I could turn it over anytime I needed to. I mounted the switch under the dash, so it can be used anytime. I still need to pull cluster and replace relay, but now I can drive it and it's kind of a security system, like hiding a toggle switch to disable my Harley. Anyways, just an idea to get you going until you fix it properly, or don't. I'm kinda liking my remote button.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate every one's. I will be going to the lake in about a week and try what you suggested. I will get back to tell you about the out come. Thanks again.

Well I did say I was going to get back to all of you and to fill you in on what I found. First and foremost I want to thank everyone for their input and knowledge. The culprit was the starter. I ordered one and they had one in Edmonton, came in and took it to the lake to install it. There were a few choice words I probably had said but did get it in. I turned the key and to my half deaf ears it started. Drove it home, now am going to put my inside of the car back together. Thanks again to all that made this happen. Barr94.

I'm glad you got it worked out. I just ordered a clutch master cylinder because after replacing the leaky slave cylinder, it still wants to bleed back. I guess if you want to have an older car, you will need to replace parts that simply age and go bad. I only have 41k on this 91, but it sits a lot and that is hard on them. I do enjoy the car when I drive it, but I have been looking for a 66 Chevelle that is reasonably priced in good condition only because I have had the 91 for over ten years and I want something different. Problem is, there aren't any reasonably priced ones.
