Well, I’ve started a project on my C4 that I did to my C6 a few years ago - sound deadening and Vettenuts insulation. And while I have the interior out, going ahead and installing a Kenwood head unit and front and rear cameras. I’m doing it in a few stages and started with the hatch area today. Worked on installing the rear camera and am wanting to run the cable thru the passenger side grommet (see pics).
The wire loom thru the grommet is really tight. I can’t get a drill in there to make a new separate hole or to carefully drill out a hole in the oem grommet. Anyone done this already or have any helpful suggestions? Or know of a
tool that can get in there and make a hole in the grommet? It’s pretty thick rubber and the space is tight so a razor blade or exacto knife or something to cut it would be difficult too. Thanks in advance for any information.
Oem grommet, passenger side, taillight.
Camera wire that I’d like to run thru oem grommet.
I ran the wire for the rear camera down the left side of the car, under the rocker cover. There is already a wire bundle running there. It was then easy to go up and through a large grommet running into the car. There was enough room to slide the wire through.

Thanks for the feedback Dr Cook. BTW, I’m going to install the EM harness bar while I have the interior pulled out as well.
You can also get a wireless transmitter and receiver which are very small as well as inexpensive and avoid running cables through the car. I did this on my C5 and again on my '90 ZR1 and it works perfectly with a clear picture.
Thanks for the feedback mrlnd and drcook. Love that engine bay mrlnd. I appreciate there are wireless options, I lean toward a wired solution, just preference on my part. Roger that on your name Dave....I figured you were an MD; nice to meet you, I'm Barry. Appreciate the pics of the camera view, and your sony receiver. I'm going to install a kenwood head unit in mine while I have my interior pulled out.
