One of the rear shocks on my 1995 Z07 equipped Vette is leaking some oil, so it looks like it's time to do the shock absorber thing. The Chevy dealer quotes $695 each! There has to be a better alternative.
Does anybody have a source for a more affordable alternative than the Chevy dealer? Somebody told me you can have them rebuilt by Bilstein. Does anybody have any contact info for that?
Call 858-386-5900 ask for the repair department. I had them revalve mine, takes two weeks to turn them around. $50 bucks if revalving in not required, $100 if revalving is required per shock. They dyno the shock after rebuild for compliance and they do a great job. They do no repaint them but have the paint if required for $10 and the stickers to make them look brandy new. Do all four at the same time you'll have a new ride when they come back.
