I’m wondering if anyone has ever swapped the dash console, speedometer, tach, etc etc on a 1984 C4 with a newer model C4 that has a more rounded modern looking dash. I don’t like that boxy, square looking dash on our 84 and since we are rebuilding it from scratch and rewring everything with newer wires and pigtails where needed, I was curious if the C4 interiors are close enough that you could swap the dash and center console with one from a newer looking c4. Not exactly sure what year they changed it, but any that have that more curvy, sweeping dash. Even if I have to rewrite the electronics. M
IN FACT, I was REALLY hoping to replace that older manual climate control box with the more automated one lol. I just don’t like this 84 interior.
im a first time car restorer and using YouTube and going VERY slow to do all of this. So this change would need to be somewhat dummy proof. I can’t make new parts for fitting I don’t think. My son’s 11 and this is for him at 16 so I have time. But not a ton of patients lol
Anything is possible with enough time and $$$. But honestly, sell the 84 and buy a 90-96 if you want the curved dash. Corvettes are nightmares for electrical issues and trying to switch it out I think you'll regret going that route rather quickly.
A forum member did this about 20 years ago with an ‘89, I think. Can’t recall who. I think he installed a ‘90-‘93 dash, console, door panels, etc. I remember the ‘89 wheel and column remained as the newer style has an airbag. Not sure what he did about the front speakers as the newer cars had those possibly on/in the frame of the car. And the computer is under the hood on later cars. It looked challenging but possible with enough resources. It turned out really nice.
Hate to see one less early interior, but if you wish to undertake this, try to find the post about the above mentioned conversion.

Might have been @-=Jeff=- Swapping a 88-89 to a 90 dash will definitely be easier than a 84 car.
At the end of the day, I would sell the 84 and buy the 90 or newer. Several other improvements as well.

yes I swapped the Dash in my 89 and I installed a 91 dash. I also swapped the radiator and fan assembly, forward body harness and engine harness and decide to use the 1991 ECM.
swapping the dash is not for the faint at heart also going to electronic AC requires more work and changes and then being Crossfire you need to figure out how to put everything together
I would sell for a different car. When I did mine, I had already swapped from an auto to 6pm and updated the body with new paint etc
