Hello all,
Kevin here from NE Pa. 1992 C4 Polo automatic 91,400 miles. I am replacing my front brake pads, hoses, and calipers. The previous owner did not install the retaining clips so the brakes were flopping in the wind. I checked Rock Auto and they have several brands of pads to choose from. At least three of the manufactures have different types of retaining clips on their pads. How do I know what pads and clips to get? I've purchased wrong parts before and want to be sure. It may be possible that each type will fit. What do the experts here choose?
A lot of people here are fans of Hawk and Carbotech. These are premium pads and more expensive but people at both companies would make sure you get the correct set. Dan
I've used Powerstop pads from Rock Auto on my Corvettes in the past and have been pleased with them for how much I paid. A little dusty at times but the brake dust doesn't seem to stick to the wheels well, so that's a plus.
