Will an obd2 code reader read without an adaptor on a 94? If it won't, is an adaptor available? An obd 1 adaptor will not fit. Prefer not to use the paper clip method. Thanks in advance.
Even the very expensive diagnostic tools that can do what you're wanting to do require quite expensive and intelligent adapters to work. The DIC in the car for a '94 for the average owner I'd think the better choice than relying on inexpensive readers and adapters. Fabricate your self a couple correctly terminated jumpers to use or maybe invest in a couple correct mating connectors and do your own fabrication that you could plug in vs search for pinning.
A Delphi/Aptiv# 12110252 would be a mating connector to the DLC in the car and buy several Metri-Pack 150 mating terminals and fabricate as you wish. The 12110252 is inexpensive enough and the terminals also that you could fabricate 1 for each jumpering option.
Terminals for the 12110252 I believe I'd use the 12047581 and that seems to be the suggested also. That terminal also for just jumpers OK too.
There are better than a dozen vendors out there with stock.
I use an Acton 9690 Elite AutoScanner that does obd I and II, that also can stream data. Unfortunately Actron no longer makes scanners, but you may be able to find one on Ebay or Anazon.
