I have a 110% stock 1995 auto and this car creeps forward unlike any other auto I've driven. It idles at 600 with AC off and a little higher with AC on.
This isn't an issue, its just surprising and I'd like to know how other C4's act.
I live in the mountains and I have yet to encounter a hill/stop light this car can't idle up.
I was running a factory Corvette converter in the 700R4 in my Camaro for a long while. I remember it wanted to creep forward (albeit I was idling around 650 rpm). I'd have to hold the brake a bit firmly to keep it from wanting to creep forward. The Miniram intake didn't like to idle lower than that, as it would start idling rough.
I also couldn't stall it any higher than about 1700-1800 rpm...
But when I changed to my current 2500 rpm converter, that completely went away.
I want to say mine will move at 5mph or so just on creep, but on the one hill up to work every day its just strong enough to pull it very slightly upward - I still need gas to actually get up and over.
Mine creeps big time. Tach shows idling at about 500, creep indicates higher unless its a stall speed issue. As far as I know trans never been touched said PO of 24 years (female Dr.). Randy
How interesting - not to beat a dead horse, but I was out earlier and wanted to see how fast I could get on creep : 18mph! And I do believe it also shifted into second.
