Need Help. Ignition switch
1994: The ignition switch will not rotate to the last position where the key can be removed and the steering wheel & shifter locks.
I checked the archives but didn't see anything on this.
Where should I start the troubleshooting?

Pennsylvania??
Heck no it's a California car.
On a serious note, I can't believe that there is no one here with any experience in steering columns or shifters and can't be of some help.
Are my questions not inane enough to get replies? end rant

He said, is the car in "PARK"
If the shifter isn't all the way in park, it will cause what you described...
As for any further problems, someone else will have to jump in.

There is a cable from the gear selector lever to the ign sw and if broken or binding, won't allow the ign sw to go the lock position.

Re: Need Help. Ignition switch (vette_dreamer)
There are just two small wires running from the ignition lock cylinder down to the body wiring harness. The lock cylinder cams a rod that runs down the column to the real ignition switch, which is on the column under the hush panel.
It sounds like the first place to check would be under the console, check to see if the Park detector switch has continuity. Means removing the console panel and rooting around.
Other than that, your key may have gotten too worn in a funny place that makes it able to start the car but not click into "Lock". Unlikely, though.
