Bought the nitrus carbide blades last night for the multi tool. We will see if that can get in there. I also have metal cut off wheels for a dremel which should definitely fit in there. Also if I get the inner frame rail bolt out, I should be able to move this thing around a bit more but that might hurt as well if it’s flopping around and I need to pry the bolt head up to cut it off. So I’ll see what works soon. If not tonight, soon. Need to get this project done so I can move onto the real tear down. I may have to get this thing all back together or mostly so I can get it over to my dad’s garage on the lift. The big plan is to completely reseal the engine which is currently a pig. Intake to oil pan and all the front seals along with an opti rebuild and tune up. I’d rather have the ability to go up and down with the car to do things from the bottom and top without messing with Jack stands and all that. Plus doing the pan and oil filter adapter housing don’t sound fun laying on my back. Could even do the rear main while I’m at it. I’m sure it’s leaking as well. I wish I could just do the heads and cam, torque converter, and 44 swap and do this once and done. I’m all about working on this car but why reseal it to pull it all apart again? Why drop the trans for the rear main and not do the TC while it’s there. I want to do the hubs and u joints too. It just makes sense. And doing the exhaust would free up space to work. It’s just the time and funds though. But wouldn’t it be nice

Well that bolt laughed at the carbide blades. Tore the teeth right off. I removed the ASR and my cordless dremel with a 1 1/2” metal cut off wheel fit in there. Waiting for the battery to charge and I will have at it with that. Almost there. Might have to buy a few more replacement cut off wheels depending on how hard this bolt is.

Default Success

The 1.5” cut off wheel on the little cordless dremel did the trick. Inside frame rail bolt also came out easy. I think I can even get my flexible telescoping magnet inside the frame rail to retrieve the rivnut and bolt that fell inside. No damage to the ASR bracket or the brace itself. I completed the rest of the disassembly minus taping up the harness connectors that I pulled apart. I might take some more stuff apart or just tie it up out of the way. But I now have full access to the frame rail. I am eyeing up the steering column to see if that needs to go to. But now for stripping and painting. Then I need to replace a few ugly things, get some bolts, restore and paint a few things, and get this thing back together. What a job this has been but the success in fully accessing the frame says it’s worth it. Oh and what to do with this rivnut/nutsert fellas???!!! What are my options for being able to get a bolt back in that spot?
