Hey, Just wanted to show you guys an upgrade I did. I bought this Vett with 140,000 miles on it. I am pretty sure these are the original struts. When I had the old struts out, I pushed down on them. It took about 5 minutes for them to rebound back up. The old owner gave me new struts as part of the deal when I picked up the car.
MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE. If you are thinking about upgrading DO IT. This baby drives like a whole new car. It was not hard at all. Only the rear struts bottom bolt gave me a little trouble getting off the rest were cake.
Back in 2017 I bought a beater 86 for 3k. It had the original Bilsteins on it from 1986. KYB had a shock special and I got all 4 for around $100ish. Long story short it was a night and day difference on how that old car rode. You wouldn’t have believed they were they same car.
The Gabriel shocks are not the original shocks, but they are pretty old no doubt. New shocks makes a night and day difference as far as ride and handling are concerned. I replaced the original Delco shocks in my 84 with a set of Bilstein shocks and it woke the car's handling right up. I did the same in my 93, but swapped out old white colored KYB shocks for a set of Bilstein shocks. I installed a set of KYB shocks just like yours into my old 86 and I was very impressed with them! They were stiffer than the Bilstein B6 units I put in my 84 and the car had a much better ride. I think overall you will like the KYB shocks a lot
As a side note, I was intrigued at the thread title, thinking perhaps you had found some new C4 socks. I wasn't disappointed when I read your thread, but seeing new C4 socks would have been kinda cool.
Lol Just realized my thread title says Socks. It got autocorrected from shocks. Oh well I kinda like that title better anyway.
I had always heard people refer to the rims as "shoes" so when I saw the title I was like wonder what this is. After reading the thread I was like I guess we are calling shocks "socks" now. Made sense to me lol

In my opinion shocks are a usually neglected item I just replaced my F45 shocks in my new to me 96 with 63k miles. I compressed these shocks and two weeks later they still haven't rebound. Thinking of making them garage wall art.
