Lope question.
Hey all,
I have a question for you LT4 owners about there.
This is my first LT4 and when I purchased the car, I noticed a pretty pronounced cam lope. I assumed the previous owner installed a cam until I watched a GM endorsed video about the differences between the LT1 and the LT4.
The video said the LT4 cam has like a .500 lift and 1.6 rockers. Is this true or did I misunderstand? Do yours have a noticable lope?

Mine still has the factory cam. It doesn't sound lopey to me at all, not like a cammed car does.

Interesting. I guess maybe they did modify it.
It's not a huge lope, but definitely something you'd think was cammed if you heard it.
This was confirmed by other people asking me if it had a cam too lol.

It does have more lift than the LT1 and 1.6 RR from the factory in the LT4. See here:
https://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm
I have a lopey cam, I wouldn't say the stock LT4 has any real lope when I've heard them. That stock cam spec shouldn't lope.
No way to know what cam is in it though if you don't have any information.

The LT motors in general have a more lopey sound than more modern V8s. Especially with muffler deletes.
Take a video and post it and we can tell you better than just imagining what your car sounds like, lol

Copy good idea lol.
I'll record it today. It does have full headers, y pipe, and 2.5 exhaust, but the stock mufflers.
I'll do that as soon as I get moment.

I can't really get a better video than this because my phone sucks. I can hear it standing there, but you can't really hear it in the video until I bring it close to the exhaust. Watch till the end.
It's a bit more pronounced than in this video.

No cam expert here but I don't hear a lope. I have a LT4 and it doesn't sound lopey to me at all.

I'd say a Hotcam with a 900-950 rpm idle.

Yeah I was thinking the same. It's not huge, but definitely there.

I don't hear it. This is what mine sounds like with an off the shelf Summit cam. This was before the ported heads and my tune was off.

Something was up with the acoustics. Let me take it out of the garage and try again. The phone wasn't picking it up at all.
Btw yours sounds really good!

I'm still not sure. You should take the mufflers off and try again.

On a full long tubes and cat back exhaust, that's kinda what I'd expect with a mild or no cam.

My car lacks the headers, but I do have the LT4 with a hotcam and muffler deletes. Sounds almost exactly like your video. Mine's maybe a touch louder but the lope sounds spot on.

Idle @750 rpm's , water temp at 180, hotcam, headers, no cats and stock mufflers.

The manifold vacuum at idle should be a good indicator of the amount of overlap.

Oh that is absolutely an lt4 hotcam. Nice! I have my oil pan off, and optispark off at the moment. Want to put the hotcam in my lt4, but can't find it anywhere.
I can assure you, put corsa mufflers, and you will hear it way more. What headers do you have? Cats and resonator in place?
