Exactly what I thought when the exhaust mods were listed, thought to myself..."previous owner probably put a Hotcam in it"! Plus those exhaust mods will change the "sound" of the engine running. I'd be curious to see what's under the valve covers....as far as, does it still have the factory roller rockers or the updated ones or Hotcam kit ones, but more curious about what valve springs are in it....that would be a good indication if a higher lift cam has been installed! Also, wonder if any proper tuning has been performed if the cam has been changed!? Does it still have the factory '96 ECM or has it been changed to a '95 or earlier ECM?👍

It's still obd2, if that helps. I don't think the ECM has been changed, but I'm not certain what's been done in terms of tuning.

It would be nice to see if I can squeeze a bit more out of it by taking it to a dyno haha.

Sounds like an LT4 hot cam or similar and headers. And not super loud, like you said with factory mufflers. There’s really no difference in idle between a stock LT1 and LT4 and your car definitely has the lopey bump stick sound to me. The hot cam was a popular upgrade so I wouldn’t doubt it’s got one. Enjoy! She sounds mean.

You should take it to a local chassis dyno for a few pulls to see what it puts down. Make sure they use the air/fuel probe and you'll see where the tune is.

Thanks man! Those were my thoughts when I first turned the key at the dealer, lol.

Well, two fold, one thought was wow this sounds mean! The other one was, man I hope they didn't beat the **** out of it lol.

But looking at the records, it hasn't been driven much in the past 6 years.

i know plenty of guys with serious cams and all kinds of good stuff that don’t beat the snot out of them. Good for a second and third gear pull here and there, sure are fun, and sound like a beast. Not always an indicator that they were run hard often. I can’t wait to put a cam in mine.

Yeah that's true. To some degree, I'm projecting. I drive my car hard sometimes haha!

But it's because I'm an adrenaline junky. I enjoy moving as quickly as possible!
