Dull Deck Lid needs help
My 92 Convertible's deck lid has a dull (old looking) spot where the top covers it in the up position. The part outside the top is still bright Artic white. I tried washing with Dawn to strip then wax followed by hand polishing but the discolor is still there. Is this a power buff, repaint or just live with it thing?

Mine is the same way from loss of clear coat under weather strip. I don't know if buffing would help, might need to reapply a clear coat to the panel.

The discolor is not just where the convertible top touches it but the entire covered area of the lid. There is a cloth cover that is part of the top that lays down over the deck when the top is in the position. I wondered if something seeped out of the cloth or the vibration caused cloth to scuff it somehow.
