1986 Chevy Corvette, sitting for 10 years with 35,000 miles
working on trying to start it, hook the battery up and turn the key, lost all electrical power everywhere. While trying to diagnose, I disconnected the starter power cable, then all the electronics came back on. What would cause this?

Sounds like one or two of your battery terminals need to be cleaned and retightened .
I will try that. I forgot to mention that it is consistent when I put the starter back to power then I lose all power again, and once taken off power comes back on. Not sure if this would change anything for the fix but thought I’d throw it out there
