Hood pop question
Helping my friend with his 87 c4. When I pull the hood latch the hood doesn’t pop up an inch or so. I can raise it ok, even though it’s very heavy. It latches and unlatches fine, just wondering and can’t remember from my past 86 if it raised a bit when unlatched. The pins have springs on each side, made they need to be replaced? Thanks
Unless the springs are broken it's most likely the latch pins are out of adjustment. If they are not centered they can drag enough to not pop up. Mine was that way for years, I had to lift the hood while pulling the release handle. After I learned how to adjust the hood latches it popped up like it should.

Thanks, that is great to know. Any suggestions for the right way to adjust those guide pins? Otherwise I guess I’ll get in there and just fiddle around until it works better. Thanks again.
I take a piece of clay and make a small ball that just fits in the latch. Then I close the hood slowly until the pin taps the clay enough to mark it. Adjust pin and repeat until centered.

As Stated springs may need adjustment many vids on you-tube, just be careful not to over adjust or it will put to much pressure on the release cable and cause it to fail. First one that came up. adjust the hood release springs on a C4 Corvette, you typically don't adjust the springs themselves but rather the latch pins, which are the components that hold the hood down and are spring-loaded to pop the hood open. You can adjust the height of these pins by turning the slotted screw on the pin itself with a flathead screwdriver. Turning the screwdriver counter-clockwise extends the pin, while turning it clockwise retracts it.
