I recently purchased a '92 convertible. It has the Bose CD/cassette player, however, the cd player skips when I hit even the smallest bumps in the road. I don't particularly want to 'mess up' the stock look of the interior with a cheesy aftermarket cd player, but I need my cd's! lol Any ideas as to a cd player replacement for my vette? Thanks
you really need to ask this in the audio section... but I will help here, too.
the bose system is nothing but a pain. the initial cost of purchase was a rip and the cost of repair barely makes it worth fixing. and they don't really sound that good, either.
check my sig for my setup.
beleive me, it sounds much better. and you won't screw up the looks enough to matter. done right, no one will know its in there, until they hear it.
you have to replace EVERYTHING. There is nothing compatiable between the bose and the rest of the world. you will need a head unit, speakers and wire. An amp and sub are a nice touch, too.
there are tons of options here.
think about it and head over to the audio section.
Just take your bose out and take it over to http://www.doctordons.homestead.com/ . He is in Huntsville. He does great work. Charges a flat rate of $150.00. Very fast turn around, sent mine to him on a Monday and had it back by Friday.

I apologize for posting in the inappropriate forum. Maybe there should be an audio forum for each generation of 'Vette. Anyway, thanks to Mark and Bogus for their advice. I didn't mean to insult your intelligence (or Alpine) Mark - let me clarify by saying that it's actually the interior buttons on the 'vette that are kinda cheesy, and I just don't like the look of most aftermarket cd players with Chevrolet's cheap plastic buttons. Oh, well, I'm sure I'll find a solution that I can live with!
Mikez40 and Brdd - thanks for pointing me toward DoctorDons in Huntsville. I'll contact him and see what he can do for me (if anything), and if not, find the nearest Alpine dealer....lol.
Seriously, thanks for the advice. As a new 'vette owner and corvetteforum member, it's nice to get advice from other 'vette owners. Happy driving....!!! :chevy
No insult taken, I kinda think its cheesy to have a other then stock in mine as well, but when I bought it, it had a REALLY CHEESY SONY XPLOD, fixed that with the alpine
