I am completely new to working on cars, and thought it might be a good idea to start out by putting a new fuel pump assembly in. I did everything, connected the hoses and the electrical, but when i tried the start the car it started to crank very slowely and not start. Does anyone have any ideas on what I did wrong? I also have photos below of the fuel pump, maybe that helps. Thanks so much.

Did it not start because it's not cranking or cranking too slowly?
If so jump it or put a charger on it.
Looks like you didn't use hose clamps on the hose connecting the pump to the tube. There should also be a rubber sleeve that goes around the pump to keep noise down. You have a plastic clamp on the hose that's not needed. My opinion is when the pump is turned on its spraying out at the hose. There's about 40 psi at least to that hose. You can also check the shrader valve for pressure at the fuel rail.
It was a slow crank, but it has a click at the end of the crank. I am currently charging the battery up just in case, but would that click be the battery? Thanks so much.
Will, forgive this rather rudimentary question, but what symptoms was the car exhibiting before you changed the pump? Did you change the pump because because the car wasn't starting before or a proactive move on your part to get practice on working on your car?
Hello,
when I turned it on I didn’t hear any noise coming from it
In the pic below, note that the electrical connector is not mated to its position on the sending unit plate.
If you never plugged this connector in, this is why it won't start and why you don't hear any noise coming from it. You're new to "working on cars". One of the first lessons is "Checking costs nothing." And, "But first, did you conduct a close visual inspection?"
The in-tank harness is not plugged into the yellow through-connector.
The clicking is coming from the starter not having enough power to turn. Fully charge your battery and fix the things as stated above with the fuel pump.

I agree, my old eyes aren't what they used to be. If thats not plugged in it ain't gonna start.
As others have said, it appears that your first problem is the battery is not properly charged. Second issue you haven't confirmed the pump actually runs. When you get the battery fully charged turn the key to see if the pump runs for two seconds Might be easier to have someone at rear to listen for it. If it is confirmed the pump does actually have the 2 second prime hook up a fuel pressure to fuel rail to see if you have proper pressure. Many auto parts store will loan you a gauge so you can check it.
