This is a Wierd one so this is my first time ever doing anything deep in any car but i took apart the intake and had it powder coated and was reinstalling it in doing the timing for the ignition get it to TDC align the distributor make sure it’s seated and tighten it set it to the first spark plug and hook everything up I go to start it and it doesn’t start, I mess with it for awhile and I’m pretty sure the TDC mark on my crankshaft pulley is off and someone before my messed it up because I advance the timing by moving all the plugs over one on the distributor and it fires and revs up to 2400 for a couple seconds then dies does anytime have any ideas to why that could be or maybe anyone in the Anderson IN area could help solve it
Hey wasn't AC Delco or Delcy Remy in Anderson back in the old days?
Anyway, on to your problem. I'm assuming by your post that the car started and ran fine before you removed the manifold? You may have a combination of things going on here - start by verifying the firing order. Then set to TDC and ensure that the distributor has been properly positioned by the position of the rotor. Sometimes, people make a mark but forget that since there's a helical gear in there that it turns while you're inserting it and they skip a tooth or something. Verify that and let's we can continue from there.
