Default BHP/HP???

What's the difference between BHP and HP?

Also is there such a thing as LHP?

BHP is HP at the crankshaft.
RWHP is power at the rear wheels after parasitic losses to the drivetrain.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Well HP and BHP are "usually" used in the same terms. But... the more power to the ground the better.

He said that RWHP is what put to the ground. For your purposes HP and BHP are the same thing, meaning HP at the crankshaft or "flywheel".

I actually dont know what the B stands for in BHP, but it's not RWHP. I dont know where you got LHP from.

nowadays the HP rating is net, compared to the pre 1972 (???) where HP is gross rated at the crank.

Brake HP is the old way HP was measured. Now, it is Net HP, which is also measured at the crankshaft, but has all the accessories taken into consideration, (power steering, AC, smog pump, etc.).
True HP is measured at the wheels, Rear Wheel HP. Each car is usually a little different, so this can only be measured on a dyno. Hope this helps.

I think you have it backwards.(I could be mistaking though) BHP is brake horse power, Europeans use this term to refer to what we call rear wheel horse power. Hp is crankshaft horse power. I use to live in England and I watched a lot of British car shows and they always refered BHP is meaning rear wheel horse power.

Oops I meant flywheel hp not crankshaft hp.
