I bought my 90 with over 150k on the clock, and she purrs like a baby! I need to do a bit of maintenance (mostly preventative as it is much cheaper!) once in a while, and am planning on replacing all the bearings and ujoints this summer sometime. But that is just because I want a reference point. Engine rebuild in the winter, again because I want too. For 150k+ miles, my baby runs hard and fast, and smooth as butter. Burns no oil, etc... Just have to be careful with anything you buy, mileage doesnt always tell the whole story!
its like my grand pa says... is that highway miles or city miles??
lol, one thing he was right about. and being a 96, im betting they were all put on it on the interstate..
its the stop and go , start the car , shut off the car , star again miles that kill a car.
Hey, Chris. Saw you earlier today while I was out in the Navigator. Didn't know that you were looking into another Vette. Patrick's lookin' at a Z06 now for next month possibly.
In Nov I bought my 1st vette. It is a 96 CE LT4. It had 94k miles on it and I paid 19k. I know I paid a little to much for it, but it had a brand new ZF trnsmission. The interior looked new. I paint looked wet. You could tell it was well maintained. Since then I have spent $900 on a tune-up, cooling system, belts, etc; $600 on new rear tires; $300 on new shocks; $150 on new front fenders. I say all of this because even with what I've put into it, I don't regret trading in a prefect 99 Camaro SS w/less than 50k miles. I know my wife is not happy with the $$$ I've spent, but it's my toy and it make me happy. Regardless of what anyone feels here, the bottom line is are you willing to deal with and accept the responsibility of the maintance of this car. If you are then I say its worth your $$$. If your not then there are others out there, you just have to find them. Good luck. Just my 2 cents.
