I'm thinking about getting one these C5 conversion kits for my 91 and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with them. Are they hard to install?
Have you ever seen one of these in person? They look insanely cheesy and complely disproportioned, sorta like an unstretched fiero Lamborghini kit. It doesn't fool anybody, and will get all kinds of sneers from those who actually know what they're looking at.
If you like the C5, buy one. Combine the value of your 91 with the cost of the kit, the installation & paint work costs, and you are well within the range of what an early C5 will cost you. You'll wind up with a faster, better handling GENUINE car instead of a disproportuned hatchet job with an identity chrisis.
:iagree: from what ive heard youll spend big money on just getting the kit to fit good by someone that really knows what they are doing, and even then it still looks a bit odd with the smaller butt and clamshell hood.
I've seen 2 in person and 1 just happen to be today. They are crap. You can right away that something isn't right, even from a little distance. You might fool a few non vette fans, but that would be it. Stay with the C4 styling or just buy a C5.
I think the cars should stay with thier year correct styling. This also pertains to people who replace thier 84-90 rear end with the 91-96 style. I think I'll do the opposite just to be different. I'll put a 90 rear end on my 94
Man, you screwed up posting this thread. The last guy that posted a thread about the conversion kit was flamed clean off the forum. Personally, I think the conversion kits look pretty neat, if you're gonna keep the car forever, but I would think that it would kill any residual value in the car. Go for it! It looks a damn site better than some of these ground affects kits that everybody raves about!
Lets remember that he asked, "if anybody has any experience with them. And are they hard to install?" He didn't ask what everyone thought of them. Be nice!
