speedometer question ??

ok on my 84 i was wonding for a long time why the speedometer only goes up to 85mph. is that all it can go or what. can it go faster then 85. :auto:

Seriously though, once you go past 85 the numbers on the side move to show up to about 95. If you go faster, they move again...

I think it was to make the government happy. They didn't want fast cars and they wanted to keep emitions down too.

What do the government and emmisions have to do with a digital speedometer? I'm sure if you really wanted to could make it look like you can go 999. It's digital!
