Well guys, Saturday i put the eliminators on and my god what a difference. It finally sounds like a vette!!! Question though! I have severe resonance at about 2200 to 3500 rpm, is this normal? When i was lining up the tips, i put them exactly where the stock location was, but some have said if you extend them out a little further you will alot of the resonance. Is this true? Overall, i am very happy with the fit, sound, and look! Well worth the $150 from Corvette Central! Oh yeah, the baby also get a fresh fill of mobil 1 :seeya
I had elims and yes there was tons of resonance. I asked the exhaust shop guy about extending the tips and he said "It wouldn't make a difference" but I don't know from experience.
Dont get me wrong, i love the sound, but when you rev it up LOOK OUT!!! I did however get a lot of compliments on it. People referred to it sounding very throaty and almost like a mustang with flowmasters!

I would have to agree... Get use to the resonance because your not going to get rid of it with elims. I made the mistake of putting elims on mine and after a week of driving it around town I pulled them off and went back to stock. Don't get me wrong I love the sound from the outside but couldn't deal with the inside. Maybe I'm just getting old. :nonod:
HAHA!! I did feel like i was going deaf by the time i got home, but the sound is too good to pass up. I guess i will have to get use to the resonance. :auto:
Resonance. It's a vette it should be loud I don't mind the resonance I like hearing my motor all the time. I know there are guy's that don't want to hear it until they get on it I say Bulls#*t. If they don't want to hear their motor go buy a Caddy. Sorry about using your post for a little rant.
Eliminators are great enjoy!!! What are you running 2 3/4 or 3"
Patrick,
i did all the work myself putting these on and can tell you that i clamped the mufflers and used the stock hangers. 2000 rpm and under is quiet as can be but as soon as i get above that, it gets loud!!! Once i get at about 4500 rpm it sounds like stock again. WEIRD!!!
I had a set put on my 92 and loved them also. Two weeks later I used Dynamat Xtreme on the car to kill the noise inside. Still sounds good, but does not make my head hurt on longer trips!
I went from stock to elims after hearing a great sounding LT-4. Absolutely loved the sound and yes, resonance is real. Since my main cruising buddy is the wife (and she hates resonance) we now have Corsas. Like that sound also and the wife is happy.
I have a 383, carsound cats, stock reasonater and elimns. I have practially no reasonance at all. Maybe a small amount between 1400-1450. That's it. I did have my tips moved back about an 1 1/2". They just barely stick out from under the bumper. I love the sound and the only thing I've though about doing is changing the stock tips to stainless ones.
