I was at work (I work at a school), and eyed some kids on bikes riding by my car every now and then. I had the top off and the windows down, but I was outside with the kids on the playground and could see my car the whole time, so I wasn't worried. I knew they were up to something, and I was pretty sure that they didn't know the car was mine, so I decided to take the kids inside and watch from the window. :D
Sure enough, once the parking lot and playground were empty the two punks went to work. They were trying to take my chrome valve stem covers. The kid bent down and started twising on my tire, I fly out the door and head to the car. I get there, much to the kid's surprise, and ask him just what the heck he thinks he's doing. He claims that he's just checking out my rims  yeah right. Well, I let him off with a scare. He's only a fifth grader and I bet he went right home and cleaned out his pants because he was SHAKING!!!
Hopefully he wont be messing around with anymore cars!!! This made my year so far--actually catching the punk in the act! It doesn't get any better!
Well at 11yrs of age he is old enough to know to not damage other peoples property and to not steal. Yea we all did dumb stuff at that age but theft or vandalism were not on the agenda.
Good job; hopefully that was enough to prevent a recurrence.
That kind of stuff happens to me too. My wife says it's payback for all the punk things I did at that age. I have always loved Vette's since I spotted my first dream car at 9 years of age, a 1968 427 yelllow 4spd coupe .  Out of respect, I would never have messed with a VETTE ! :mad :cuss
You caught the kid red handed, he lied to you about what he was doing and you let him go. I think I'm missing the lesson you taught him here
