I always wanted a pre 1970 chevy like a Chevelle or a Carmaro, or a Chevy 2. but since I'm 18 and can't do alot of body work for thoes types of cars.
so I was thinking about a 1984 to 1988 Corvette to drive around in if I can get one for a good price. I always wanted a Corvette my dad and I restored a 1967 and I have learned alot about them. So tell me what you think about that. :chevy
This is one of those posts that you can argue forever on. Everyone is biased based on what they drive so here are the good and bad points that i've seen here on the forum.
84 - Can pull a 1g in the skid pad (the z06 is the only other corvette then can do this), but is really stiff for this reason. 84 also has the cross fire injection system which is a good engine, but many have complained about maintanence (not starting a flame for those 84 owners).
85-90 are virtually the same car with a few minor upgrades and improvements each year newer (91 has the same engine just different rear and front facias and interiors).
84-85 no convertibles
i would get the car with the fewest milage, best shape, and cheapest price. is this a restoration or turn key car?
Tell you what. Hang aound here long enough and you'll end up buying one today. I :lurk: d for two weeks after finding this place then made the leap of faith and purchased my first 'Vette.
Prices are right for 84 up vettes at this time......
So pick one, and go for it......you'll be happy.....and your dad can always put in his 2 cents.....

I bought a 86 coupe in Oct 02 with 90,000 miles for 7,000.I love this car.It was a well taken of car just needed cleaning up a little. It is the first vette that I have ever owned that I have had to change the oil more than once a year.I have put 6,000 miles on the car and I don't drive it in the winter.About 60% of those miles were road trips.Go ahead and buy one you won't regret it.
