Re: Remove the breadbox. (OldDog58Vette)
The instructions that come with the new dash replacement are pretty good. There's one screw that is difficult to reach...since I have no intention to ever reinstall the thing, I just cut the brace with a hacksaw blade.
did this years ago, but as I recall, took about an hour and I love it
I just bought an 89, and after reading this topic, I have a question. Does this mean you can remove that big bulge on the right side and replace it with something else?
Does the new plate that takes the place of the breadbox say CORVETTE on it? If not, i'm not gonna get one becuase then my friends won't know what kind of car they're in.
j'k :jester
Where can I acquire one of these "breadbox delete kits"?
MAD and Eckler's have kits for about $50. I went with MAD and am happy with the results. It's basically a flat panel of black plastic. I am happy with the way it fits. Type "bread box" into a search and you can probably find old posts with pictures of the flat panel. If you do it, try to save your old vent hose when you remove the bread box. The hose that MAD sends is so stiff it's a PITA to install. Also, someone in either the C4 parts for sale section or audio forum was selling custom panels with "Corvette" detailed onto the panel. Looked pretty good.
