I just had another thought. If you alter this to a Dzus fastener you would have to alter the top itself since it is threaded. What if you did take the hand screw idea and put a slot in the head so you could us a screwdriver on it? I think I'm done now.
"When we got the prototype on the road, we found that those assumptions were way too stiff. The latches weren't able to transmit as much load into the hatch as the car wanted; they'd actually pop open."
"So we had to go from the quick-release latches to a bolt on hatch roof. We measured the maximum load going through the latches and found it to be about half a ton."
that was without x brace, camber brace etc tho
this would be a good question for the "guru".i.e.-were the bolts just a quick fix approach when the latches popped during testing?
Im started to design and build some a while back but got sidelined with my spinal fusion in the fall, i'll take a look at it again tomorrow when i get to my shop.
How about a halo brace that you can also have the top in place on it and it would release off the the halo brace and the brace would stay inplace to strengthen the car! Now that I would buy!!
