Re: PLEASE HELP! REMOVE DASH ON A 1988 (OldDog58Vette)
I took the dash out of my 85 last year but my memory sucks, I believe you pull the under side (the part with the carpet on it) first. it's a pain, you have to reach in behind it to get to the four nuts (13 or 14 mm wrench) once that is out you should see the mounts for bread box. I can't remember if you can get the dash pad off without removing the bread box, there are 5-6 screws that hold the front edge to the dash (some are behind the dash trim) once these screws are out the pad pulls (slides) out to the rear of the car, mine was preaty snug
I'm looking at a 1988 convertible with 48K miles on it. Very good shape and original except it doesn't have the rectangular "bread box" dash pad on the passenger side. I know these weren't popular but I'm a stickler for stock. Can you buy these? I've looked at Eckler and Corvette American and don't see them.
Also, is there anything particular I should look for on this car? What are the problem areas?

Check the Classifieds, you should be able to pick a used one up from someone who's parting out a car. Can't imagine they go for much.
