My 91 vette now has 110,000 miles on it (daily drive) and I still love it, although things are starting to happen...front end shakes like mad around 65+ mph...alignement, wheel balance issue (new tires 1 yr ago), rotors or could it be all all these???? Also over the last couple of months I have noticed that when I start the car whitish but more light bluish smoke from exhaust, as well as when I'm sitting in traffic. why???
How long have u owned the car, how many of those 110,000 miles are ur's? It's hard 2 tell precisely what could be wrong with the front end, If it were me, and I was planning on keeping the car (very important step) I'd start with the least expensive work, have the tires balanced, all 4, see where they are before the guy pulls the weights off.
The smoke, is it only after the car sits 4 abit? Or all the time?
Smoke on start-up is usually valve stem seals. Very common on all Chevy small blocks. Not to worry. Usually something else more serious will come along before seals become a critical issue. Shimmy at speed can be attributed to many things. My suggestion is to take it to a good front end shop and have them do a complete check-out before you start throwing money at the problem.
