First, welcome to the forum. Now, the gears. I bought my 3:54's from Summit Racing for $318 and paid $500 for the install with Red-Line fluid. Total $818.00. I believe it is recommended to go to the Dana 44 carrier for 3:73's. There is not alot of info about your vette other than it's a 92. If it's a 6-speed, you already have the Dana 44, so the above pricing will be close. If a different carrier is needed, then perhaps someone will show up soon with that pricing. Good luck.
My '95 is an auto with Dana 36. Just put in US 3.73's and flashed the computer to correct speedo and change shift points. I made the change as I did not want to crack open my 72,500 mile motor, yet I wanted that lowend pull on the rare visit to the strip, and stop light to stop light (want vett respect from the ricers).
I had some problems with the computer reflash, dam Hypertech was used previously, so the entire cost was $1,200. Only other issue is high pitched whine at certain RPMs common to many after market gears, but nothing I can't get used to.
Suggest you know the eventual goal of all your mods so they work well together. If you intend to drop a big honking engine in after installing the 3.73's you are going to have real traction problems.
Thanks for answering my question about 373s. My 92 is an automatic. My only mods have been the stage II computer chip to work in conjunction with stock chip. I also put in the 160 thermostat and the K&N filter. They did not improve my et at all - stayed the same. I am looking to improve my et at the track. Did it hurt your mpg? Do you recommend I go with the 373 or 354? Would the 354 whine less than the 373? <img src=" :steering: " border=0>

My gears do whine a bit. Not too bad though. I have no clue if 3:73's would be any louder. My MPG was hurt by all my mods actually, down to 18.5 from 23 mpg.
If you can get a set of GM 3.54's odds are you will have no whine. Do you know what you currently have? If not, check your RPO's in the compartment behind the passenger seat.
Im sure my 92 auto is equiped with 307 or 308 gears. Is my car a Dana 36? Will the 373s fit in my Dana 36? What sort of et gain should I expect from the change? Does GM have 373 gears for my car that don't whine like the aftermarkets?
If you are near correct it is a 3.07, and as an automatice she would come stock with a Dana 36. If you do have the 3.07 the 3.73's should fit right into the gear carrier. GM has made 3.73's in the past but they are virutally impossible to find, and if found would undoublty be very expensive. The noise is part of aftermarket gears, mine have been in about 3 weeks and I am still getting accustomed to the noise. They are not really loud but occasionaly shrill enough to be bothersome. Of course whene the radio is on, or the windows open, I don't hear much of it at all.
Have not been to the track so I am not sure of ET's, but she is noticably seat of the pants faster. Burns good rubber from a standing start, hitting second brings the nose up and a lound chirp from the rear tires. All new performance charateristics of my baby. She is getting more beast like!
Cya!

I had 375's in my car(just blew the rear...yes I have a d-36 ) When it broke my case was bad also.....Im currantly putting it back together & am putting dana 36 with 375's in again....I know I really need a d-44 but $ is tight right now. :smash: Gears are available in jegs for $319.00, then you need an install kit & grease with additive. If you dont do it yourself plan on spending about $400.00 more for labor! Good Luck!
