Yes I may be crazy, but I'm sick of having mud and track rubber all over my back bumper right behind the wheel wells. Has anybody done this? What do you guys think? I wouldn't ever do anything like Taz mudflaps either, just strait black.
I'm kidding...where in the heck are you driving???
Mine get dirty too but I have never seen it get so bad and so often that I would think about flaps on it....
Is yours a daily driver? Are you always on paved roads?
I guess you need to do what you need to do to preserve the paint etc..
Daily Driver??? I have two cars and one of them is always in storage so the vette is my ONLY car 9 months out of the year. Well, I drive at the track and you get that burnout mess, and just driving though puddles and stuff I seem to kick up enough mud to make it look bad.......Yellow mud on polo green stands out alot.
I've got them...but don't call them mud flaps, it sounds hillbilly :D I have the Altec molded protectors. I got them for the two reasons, one not to wreck the paint and two to help hide the 315's. I like them! Mine were painted gloss black to blend in better. There's a couple of pics on our site where you can see them.
I have small black flaps from Mid America, and they blend in with the color of the tires....not really noticeable at all, and they keep the sides and bottom of the car clean!!
i got mine from mid america and i love them they are the flat black ones. you can bairly notice them because they blend in with the tires. i have a pic at hom that ill try too post later on tonight :steering:
i've had them, and they work great.
as long as you don't get the ones that are a straight black piece of plastic, the molded ones really blend into the style of the car. most people don't even notice them. i think they made my white car look better.
for my silver car i am going to get the ones that are even more molded to the shape of the car and have them painted silver to match. i think this looks sweet.
I've got them, and I like them. They keeps a lot of crap off the daily driver. I got the car with the flaps on, They blended in so nice that I thought they were original equipment.
I got em on my white 92 had em on since day one underneath the car looks brand new i armoral them when i do my tires they LOOK GREAT.
Doesn't Cleartastic (supporting vendor) make clear stick-on covers for that behind the wheel area? Of course, you'd still have to try and keep the area clean though. Just a thought, if you don't like the mud flap look.
For those considering the Altec(and those who already have them), I suggest getting some Cleartastic to put on before you install the Altec's. I have them and they will rub the paint right off your car.
My '95 had them when I bought them. I just bought another set that I may put on my '93, but I'm missing a piece from my '95, so I don't know yet.
I have the regular mud flaps from MAD on my '93.
In either case, they don't completely protect, but they sure help.
When I get a chance, I'll snap some pics of both types.
