Musta been a C4 owner test driving a C5...I completely agree with the observations that C5 drivers don't understand the wave thing. I always assumed it was cuz they avoided the hard-knocks school and opened the checkbook...dunno.
...and um, 17,500 miles? Gee, I've done that since April.... :D
Saturday afternoon I was going to the supermarket with my 5 year old daughter. As I approched a stop sign, I looked to the left to check for traffic and saw a beautiful maroon ragtop C4, I also own a C4. The fellow driving waved and my daughter asked, daddy do you know that man? Naturally I replied yes, I do know him. This was my first exposure to the wave. I waved backed and thought it was pretty cool! :auto:
Oops, sorry vetboy. I sure didn't mean to offend...um, I noticed that you are a C4 owner also? :D
Unfortunately, I don't have real data to back up my theory...but I truly have the impression that a smaller percentage of C5s encountered wave than the other Cs...

Well, when I go away to school in CA it gets hard to drive the Vette while it's sitting in storage in NV. I've driven it almost every day this summer though  I also AutoX it and I'm taking her to the drag strip this friday, so it still gets plenty of enjoyment

I tend to agree with you. The newest Vette will often be owned by someone who strolled into the showroom to get the car without knowing these cultural histories! And I bet this gets much worse when the C6 comes out next year.
I just got back from a day trip into Michigan. Rochester Hills must be like the C5 capital of the world! I have never seen so many C5s in one outing...musta seen over a dozen in 3 hours!...and guess how many waved back? Yep...0
Well it finally happened to me. Today I got duped by a blonde chick in a silver C-5. I wouln't of minded, but I slowed down to let her change lanes in front of me on the freeway. Not even a thank you wave. :nonod:
Sorry to hear you guys got shafted by the C5s :( I haven't posted any of the times I have NOT received a wave because they would far outnumber the ones that remarkably waved first   Of course, sometimes it's hard to see the driver to even know if they gave a little "finger wave" with hands on steering wheel, or even to see if they were looking at you. I just keep wavin', but it's real great to get a wave back.
Tuesday we went to visit my mother on her 72nd birthday. She saw our '94 for the first time. She actually wanted to go for a ride. I took her out for about thirty minutes, saw a beautiful red C4 who waved. My mother loved the car and wants to go out in it again!
As a bonus, on the way home from our visit with mom, we got an unexpected wave from a C5!
Our first from a C5!!
All in all it was a good day! :flag
Some of us C5 owners resent this theory of yours! I always wave :seeya
I've owned vette's since 1972; I wish folks would stop making generalizations about people they don't even know.
I usually get ignored by as many C4's and don't try to lump them into some made up category with derogatory statements. You need to ride around with me and see the number of C4's that don't wave. It might surprise you.
yea there are some c5 wavers out there because my dads got a gs and a super charged c5 (this is his daughter-12- i check out the web everynow and then )but anyways we go to kentucky alot for 2 reasons the museum and my grandparents and we always run in to other vettes of all generations and my dad always waves i even way just to spread the spirt!
