Be sure to watch out for the wiper motor as you lift the engine out. If you're not careful, you will break it and have to fix it or buy a new one. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.

Once you have the bolts off and the converter bolts off too, there are two guidpins on the block that goes into the bellhousing....they may make it difficult to seperate...but it should come apart with some light banging with a rubber mallet and maybe a large screwdriver? Good Luck.

Sorry I didnt explain it correctly, I need some help about taking the bolts off, I think their are 5 of them. 2 on the sides which I can get to, then 3 more up on top, Now how the heck am I supposed to get to them with the transmission in the tunnel? BTW, I thought I could get this thing out in a day, Silly me.

Also I made a ramp and a stand that holds the whole car up 15inches up off the ground, I took some pics of it, Dont know how to post though. If I can get some help I could post them and show

Well...well...without undoing the C-Brace..I dunno.
If you undo the C-Brace and free the tranny, the motor will tilt back (make sure you take off distributer cap first). You need a approx 2' rachet extension, a "elbow" extension and a 12" or so extension...all can be bought at autozone for maybe $20 for all.... You can put them together to get the top three bolts...its really pretty easy....just make sure you have something holding the tranny when it breaks free(loosen bottom ones last). Good luck!

Pull them together. If the trans isn't new it wouldn't hurt to upgrade it (soft parts replacement).

Sorry I got here too late, but something I found that helps getting the engine out and back in:

To unbolt the tranny; Lift the engine up as much as possible and pull the engine mounts. Now drop the engine back down and the tranny bolts are much easier to reach.

To bolt up the tranny; leave the engine mounts off and start with the engine pretty low. Get it mated and then put in the bottom two bolts. Drop the jack holding the tranny and then lower the engine as much as possible. While it is down put on the ground wire from the battery. I use all of my extensions including a U joint on the top bolts.

This makes getting to the upper bolts a lot easier. Getting the engine mounts off / on is a minor issue compared to those top tranny bolts. :yesnod:

That would be the Blaster Virus.

Very important... Do the following.
First, right away, click on START, then RUN. In the command line, type SHUTDOWN -A and click on OK. This will cancel the shutdown process and buy you some more time. If you see that message pop up again about system shutdown... in the 50 seconds you get, do this and it will cancel it.

Then, press CTRL ALT DEL once and bring up your task manager.
Click on the PROCESSES Tab
Find the process MSBLAST.EXE and End it.

Finally, go to Norton's Site (www.symantec.com/avcenter) and download the Virus removal tool. Run it to clean up your system and apply the Microsoft security patch.

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and take care of this ASAP.

Thanks for the tip, I actually have done this to two of the computers in the house. :yesnod:

Also about the tranny, with a U joint, I cant really get any tq on the bolts, so I did as you said, dropped the engine and the tranny like 4 inches. Then got a long asta 12inch extension and plugged in a long socket and busted that sucker loose. :hurray: But seriously, thats a huge engine in a tiny compartment isnt it?

:iagree: Yes it is...it's just plain a small car. I have yet to pull my motor, just the tranny. It can be a pain in the azz to get those bolts at the top....and it's even more fun to put it back in.

 Oh great, another day to look forward to. Anyway, would you happen to know any kind of cleaning agent that can be used to clean up the engine compartment and transmission tunnel? Its full of this greese impregnated dirt with a layer of oil mixed in to form this type of black sludgy junk, I need to take that crap out so it'll be clean, easier to assemble everything and look better. Oh and it might help me save 30 more pounds

I cleaned the engine compartment when I pulled the engine and cleaned most of it with Simple Green. Spray it on, brush it with a stiff brush and wipe it down with paper towels. I used a LOT of paper towels!
