Default A4 Drivers

Automatic drivers, do you drive your Vette in OD or 3? Do you shift through the gears? At what speed do you put it in OD if you drive it in 3?
Just curious :yesnod:

I usually leave the car in 3rd around town or on roads where speed limits are 45-50 depending on terrain. There are some roads around here with hills and curves and the car performs much better in 3rd gear. I'll shift into OD once speeds get above 50 on straight streches and on the freeway.

I drive in in "D" or 3 as you call it around town and if i get over 50 for any extended perios i put in in OD. Perhaps i am misinformend but from what i can tell it saves the tranny unecessary wear shifting from 3-4 all the time. What is the first thing to go when this tranny needs a rebuild. Why its the 3-4 clutch pack so i avoid using it if possible. Plus it may be mental but the ar feels more responsive in D than in OD. my advice is D around town and save OD for the highway or long empty roads. I'm interested to see what others have to say about this.

"D" up to about 50 or so mph...

Highway speeds of 65-up(roundabout) O/D.

At the track. . . I have always manually shifted it at 5800.

I just leave it in OD all the time...I believe GM recommends this and the cops in my town are brutal....I get in a minimum of 12 runs in every month at the drag strip and I always let the computer do the shifting...I've not met anyone yet who can shift faster than the computer... :D

i would let the car do the shiffting untill i use the nitrous for some reason the car shifts faster (at a lower rpm) while on the nitrous if im not using the nitrous i let the car do it

I find myself shifting it all the time. If I'm feeling lazy, I'll leave it in D around town and shift into OD above 60 or for extended cruising.

I leave mine in OD most of the time. I have loud exhaust, so to keep it in D while in town, I would get a lot of cops watching me. At times, I like to shift it manually, both up and down. I have shifted down to get the car slowed down quicker when some moron pulls out in front of me and isn't looking. Most of the city street, I drive 65 or so on anyway. If I kept it in D, my fuel economy would suck worse.

OD most of the time but I do downshift to D a good bit if it starts searching too much.

I leave mine in OD unless racing. Your gas mileage sucks anus if you leave it in D for normal driving.
