Does anyone have any advice on adjusting the hatch latching mechanism so the dome lights go off? Just today my hatch won't travel far enough to push the plunger on the light switch far enough. Looks like a simple felt spacer or so will solve the problem. Is it that simple?
I had the same problem before. I open the back up where the mechanism is and just bend it up a little. It didn't feel like I did anything, but when I tested it, it was good. Have not had any more problems since
The latch itself has some adjustment room. Remove the rear fascia and you will see two bolts that hold the latch to the body. Loosen these and drop the latch about an 1/8".
How funny! I fixed this problem on my car last night!!!!!
My solution was to:
1) remove the "padding" that is on the top of the push/pull switch.
2) cleaned it with alcohol.
3) put on a drop of JB weld, then put a small 1/4 inch rubber plug (available from hardware stores) on it. Then held it in place for 15 mins so it could set up.
It's done, and it works perfect! Dome lights go off, and stay off!
