Default High compression and octanes

what is about the highest compression you can run in an LT1/4 block possibly bored and stroked(although i dont tink displacement on a chevy smallblock plays much of a difference in octane) before you start needing fuel higher than 93 octane for everyday driving. it is obvvious that if you start getting higher in compression you are gonna need race gas for any type of racing event where you spend a lot of time in high rpms but you still might be able to get away with 93 for intown or highway driving?

It realy depends on chamber design and quench area so if you deck the block and chose heads with a clean hi-swirl chamber you can get by with substantially higher CR.

With good design parameters I would think 10.5 or even 11 are possible.

I would say you can safely run 11.5:1 on an LT1/4. I am running 11:1 without any detonation.

yeah i knew it would be a bit higher than 10s because the LT4 is running 10.8:1 stock i might be actually running close to 11:1 now because i have so many miles theres no telling how much carbon buildup is on my heads. i always thought 12 was the magic number although maybe it is a bit lower than that
