Headlight will not go down!!! HELP!!!

Headlight will not go down!!! HELP!!!
My headlight all the sudden up and died on me today. It came up fine with no problems.. Then I go to turn the lights off and the driver's side light stays up... No clicking or clanking sound(like when the gears are stripped).. But there is a FAINT whinning sound(as if the motor is still running)... And if you play with the headlight itself, there is no slop in the rotation(as if a gear was rounded out)... So what could this lovely predicament indicate? Please and thank you in advance.

I'm thinking bad bushings in the motor or, believe it or not, possibly bad alternator or battery. If you don't have enough juice to do the job, all kinds of things might act up, including your motors.

I'm thinking bad bushings in the motor or, believe it or not, possibly bad alternator or battery. If you don't have enough juice to do the job, all kinds of things might act up, including your motors.
