I just found out I need a front spring on my '86. I have two questions.
1. Any suggestions on where I can get a good deal on one? Ecklers was $450.
2. I am very familiar with conventional coil suspensions, and standard rear leaf suspensions. Do I need any special tools to change the front spring? Any tips
I disagree with the junkyard theory. The job isn't tough, but I wouldn't want to do it more than necessary.
Like the other guys said, get it high enough in the air, make sure you have adequate room on each side, and use a ball joint fork to separate them from the knuckle. Not a particularly hard job, just take your time and you will be fine.
[edit] Oh yeah....just use a standard floor jack to remove the tension from the spring....no compressor needed.
