Whether a mustang could beat a L-98 or not. Who cares. Its a plain jane looking mustang. Ask if a mustang back then would beat a iroc camaro or
trans-am. A car more comprable. And in the same class. Keep mustangs where they belong, in the wanna be exotic sports car

For the record, my old 94 S-10 etended cab shortbed 4x4 bone stock plus K&N drop in filter beat a 97 V-6 mustang at the strip and yes, I have three timeslips to prove it. Disclaimer: I beat my buddys stock 150 hp v-6 mustang with a drop in K&N also. I have no delusions of my old truck beating a newer <approx> 200 hp v-6 mustang.

one thing Anything can happen on the street!
I've raced several stangs with all engines...and finding a "STOCK 5.0" would be a miracle in itself...they ain't out there and if they are they don't race.
Only ones you have to really watch out for are the DOHCs..they're quick.I'm a fan of the 4.6 DOHC I had five MarkVIIIs one being a 10.9 car with 21lbsTtrim..good engine and very suprising on the strip.I do have a friend with a 96 Cobra..not stock ..3.73s MAF,TB,Tremec trans and a few other goodies.I've run him sereral times in my bone stock 90 (110k ) and he is a dead even run until 110 he pulls maybe a fender and holds it then around 135 I come back and start pulling hard...and yes he can drive and I can as well...best times in his car were 8.40s(1/8) with me driving he also pulls 8.40s but these times were on full slicks..on streets(like when he ran me) he is a 8.90-9.00 car.

Light to light you'll waste a 5.0. Track samething. They're dogs.
Late model Mustang don't even think about it.
But there is a Corvette that will beat every Mustang out there. The Z06 will run with the Viper.
I like Mustangs there just not fast.

lets compare apples to apples the new cobra is supercharged they had to do that to wake them up.Lets supercharge a vette and we will talk.Oh wait the regular asperated z06 is faster than the mustang oh is'nt the mustang still on the same 1974 f-150 chassis or maybe im wrong hehehehe.
