I just bought my first vette. I just replaced the evap soleniod and the evap canister. :mad Which could've been avioded probably if I found the real root of the problem. The code was PO1441. Any advice would be highly appreciated. thanx. :flag
Same here.. Wife's 96 is having the same issue. It was suggested to replace the gas cap.. Did that, code cleared for awhile but came back after she filled up the last time. So must have something to do with that.
I had the same problem on my 96 and found the problem to be the valve that is back by the cannister its is about a $40 part. It looks like a tophat has a vacuum line from the gastank and feeds into the canister. I replaced one part at a time starting at the throttle body but should have started at the tank. I think they get flaky and start to leak around the seal. Code read something like no vacuum on purge and started intermittent but got to be a frequent flyer so I fixed it.
Today i get in my car vette to go to work, and the service soon light's not on. I had it reset the other day, and it came on that night. I've put gas in since. I made sure to screw the gas cap on extra tight. Hope fully it stays off for good. :chevy
Well, after a few days of driving the light came back on. WHAT A BUMMER!! :mad I think the light stayed off because it's been cold outside where I live. But today is the warmest day we've had lately. At this piont, i'm stumped!! Anymore feed back would be great. :flag
ACDELCO Part # 214565
VALVE,Evaporative Emission Canister PURGE SOLENOID 2 PORT VAC-2 BLADE TERMINAL
Located on the right side of the intake manifold.
Simple test: Remove the two vacuum hoses. Remove the electrical connector. Blow air thru either port on the solenoid. If the air passes freely, the solenoid is bad.

Check vacuum lines, ths is one reason the FSM is worth the $100 price tag.
Check solenoid connector for broken wires or dirt inside the connector.

Ok pulled purge solenoid, air passes through it freely. Bought a new one and put it on, then pluged in my OBD-II tool and erased the fault code: P1441. Have not drove car since I cleared the code. Will post what happens!!
