The UTD and Passkey are both decent systems, no argument.
I installed the VKE1000 on my '96 (already equipped w/ PKE) and was able to integrate it with the UTD fairly successfully. The PKE was really a non-issue (since it can be turned off). VATS/Passkey is a non-issue unless dealing with remote start.
Bottom line... the factory alarm, VATS/Passkey, and PKE will not pose a problem with aftermarket alarms/keyless entry, as long as you take the time to do some research on how everything functions, and how to integrate everything properly using wiring, relays, and diodes. Unfortunately, many alarm shops will not spend the time doing so....

i'm about to install a valet remote start with keyless entry on my 86. it does not have an aftermarket alarm built in. i've read the manual and it works with VATS system and comes with all the stuff to be able to bypass the ignition resistor chip to allow remote start. i can't wait to get it hooked up :cheers:
