Re: Lightest C4 (CORVETTE GURU)
I voted for the 1986 based upon your choices - We all know that the C4 got rather bloated over the years and ZR1's were a bit more portly than a base C4 :leaving:

1984 C4 weighed 3192 lbs. The next lightest was 1995 at 3209 lbs. So much for the poll. :)

1990 ZR1 was the lightest of all the ZR1s! They went out of there way to knock down the weight on this car.

The automatic for 1984 was 3192 and manual was 3164.
The 1995 automatic was 3309.
The next lightest is 1989 3223 for automatic versions.
These are curb wieght.

Re: Lightest C4 (CORVETTE GURU)
I weighed my 87 when it was stock, w/o jack, spare tire and visors, came out to be 3160 w/ all fluids full. Just add whatever weight you feel is reasonable for the missing items and that's what my 87 auto coupe weighs.

Re: Lightest C4 (DarkRed95)
According to "Corvette Black Book" C4 coupe curb weights were as follows:
1984, 3192; 1985, 3224; 1986, 3239; 1987, 3216; 1988, 3245; 1989, 3238; 1990, 3288; 1991, 3288; 1992, 3338; 1993, 3333; 1994, 3309; 1995, 3209; 1996, 3298. That would make the 1984 the lightest and the 1992 the heaviest.
Another interesting bit of trivia: The 1984 through 1991 C4 coupes were 46.7" high and the 1992 through 1996 were 46.3" high. C5's are 47.8" (until 2002 when they shrunk to 47.7")

Re: Lightest C4 (CORVETTE GURU)
Does anyone know WHY the 84 is the lightest? What DOESN'T it have that all the rest do? Thanks...

Re: Lightest C4 (tobijohn)
Well, 1984-85 dont have the extensive ABS pump and wiring, nor do they have the Air Bags....Or an ASR system...hmmm
I remember seein the 84-85 being much lighter than the 86-96 models...?
oh and the 84 lacks the pure raw unbridled HP and Torque found in the 85-present models...but a 84 Z51 will kill in the auto cross.

Re: Lightest C4 (wmrobert)
Why don't I see weight drops coresponding to the
1) switch from iron to alum heads on the L98? (not sure of year)
2) L98 to LT1 switch? The LT1/4 is an alum block right? (91 to 92)

Heads won't make a very big weight drop..... the newer the car, the more crap they have hang off of them... just look at the difference between '95-'96.... the only difference is the OBDI and OBDII......

LT-1/4 have iron blocks.....
