Wait why would the 84 kill the rest in an autocross competition, was there something special about it? Someone else mentioned, didnt give many reasons why if you do know why, that the 89 and up c4's were teh best for auto-x...??

it had a very stiff suspension, which was changed next year due to complaints. if i'm not mistaken the 84 pulls the most Gs on a skidpad after the z06.

Re: Lightest C4 (tobijohn)
Does anyone know WHY the 84 is the lightest? What DOESN'T it have that all the rest do? Thanks...
As far as weight goes, it shouldn't be much different from my 85. No abs, traction control, airbags, has iron heads, exhaust is the same. The only thing different is the intake and the hood. The 84 hood should weigh more if anything.
Next year I'm hoping to build up an aluminum Bowtie block with 113 heads, and hope to get under 3000 lbs. Should be fun to toss around. Anyone know of any problems trying this, other than money? My kid is graduating college, so what the heck: I'm not spending 50k on a C6 weekend car, that's for sure :steering:
Actually all the B2ks were full functional cars before shipped to Old Lyme. The motors were pulled out and rebuilt for placement in cars. You didnt get the same motor in your car that came out. They were stamped by Callaway.
I have you guys ALL BEATEN!
The 1987 (?) B2K option was the lightest!
It came from the factory without an engine!

While 1987 is the only year you could order an "Engine Deleted" Corvette I am not certain that it was tied to the B2K option... I could check although I don't have the 1987 Engine delete code here in front of me (I left it in the car and it is at another place now... )
If anyone has the code, I can see if it was tied to another code, Makes sense though Surf - first 4 B2K's were equipped w/ the different (Non-L98 based ) engines
If the 86 weighed in @ 3239, late 86 coupes, and all convertibles used the aluminum heads, which dropped another 125 lbs, making the later 86 coupes @ 3114 lbs (convertibles would be less, I believe?) correct me if I am wrong, but my 86 convertble may be the lightest C-4 ( I do realize, the question above was lightest COUPE, but the title asked lightest C-4)
