I started up my car in the garage this weekend for its regular warm-up when I think of summer (in 0 degree weather). I usually warm it up, run it through the gears, go back and forth about ten feet and cycle the AC and all the electrics. This time the antenna was dead. It worked fine a week ago. No sound, nothing (the Bose radio goes on). The partially heated garage is colder than usual because of the deep freeze up here this week. Any ideas other than replacement? My not so complete Hayne's manual mentions a relay but not where (I have an '87 convertible). It also looks like a tough job to get to it. Any suggestions?

Re: Power Antenna Dead (MAINEVETTE87)
I also have an 87 vert and live in the deep freeze of Michigan. This summer (with the antennae up) I cleaned it thoroughly with lighter fluid, WD-40'd it lightly and ran it up and down a few times. So far this winter I have only taken it out when it was sunny and dry but have had no problems. Since I put on my muffler eliminators I rarely listen to the radio anyway though! I'll bet if you do a search on this forum or http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com you will find more info. Good luck! :seeya
If your radio lights up, but no sound is there, and the antenna does not rise....check your courtesy light fuse... I BET that is your problem, as it powers them both...*S*
