Little off topic but still kind of.
When you say go to the track and find out. Are there tracks where you can get top end speed? Long strait away's. IF so where are they if you know?
Ah Ha! I've found a couple old motor trends. Dug through alot of boxes to get to them was not easy. Ok I'm done milking it. :jester April 1990 they did a comparison of 4 Corvettes, all 1990 models. They did not list top speed but did mention that all the cars were keeping up to the 150 pace they were driving the ZR-1 at. A ZR-1, 6 speed coupe, Auto coupe, and 6 speed convertible were in the test. The Zr1 had 3:45 gears the 6 speeds had 3:33, the Auto had 3:07 (sorry my 2:59 bretheren  ) The ZR-1 ran 0-60 4.4, 12.8 1/4 113.8 mph. the 6 speed coupe ran 5.6, 14.1@101.5. the 6 speed conv, 6.3, 14.8@95.0, Drum roll please, the auto ran 5.7, 14.2, 99.1 Right on the heels of the manual. I don't know why the Convertible tested so slow it was only 36 lbs more than the 6 speed coupe. Hope it helps, they did not do any top speed testing but did run all to 150. I don't believe Car and Driver by the way, they always have horrible numbers for American Cars. Must be the French owned thing
Pretty cool numbers.... You are right Car and Driver does put up some horrible American Car numbers........... :smash: :smash: :smash:
