Help me help a lady out!
Got a friend that had her oil changed in her 96, now the "Service engine" light comes on. Isn't there some thing to reprogram on the dash to fix that? Hey, I have never had anything newer than my '89 so I'm a dummy about such things.

You are not referring to the Change Oil light are you? That can be reset. The manual tells you how. If in fact you are talking about the Service Engine light, there is no reason why it should come on after an oil change. Unless, they broke something else while doing the oil change. And that my friend would be no shocker to us all. You need to hook up a ODBII reader to read the code to se what code it is throwing. Sears has a cheap one for sale. The hookup for te code reader is under the drivers side dash just below the steering column.
Some places like AutoZone will read the codes for free.
