My 88 does in both summer and winter. THe water temp far outpaces the oil for the first 5 or 10 minutes of driving. Then, the oil temp usually goes slightly higher than the water. Summer temp of the oil is usually over 225 F
The oil temp ALWAYS goes up slower than the water :yesnod: Many people think, oh the water's up to temp so I'll floor it now... :nono: You gotta watch the oil temp too. It's slower...

:iagree:
Yep. Every car I've owned with oil temp readout does the same thing: oil temp lags, then surpasses coolant temp. It's normal.

:withstupid:
my oil temp takes 15+ to reach water temp,, then run constant at about 225... normal...
Yep, it's slower alright, mine even starts out colder!! If it's 40 outside when I get in my car my water will be 45 and oil will be 36 or something like that.
What should oil temp. be before "getting on it"? I wait til after 150, never before it!!
My friend has an engine dyno and even in the shop the oil temp takes time to rise. not sure why this is but no pulls until minimum 180 degrees f oil temp
