Well, I put in LED bulbs in my inner taillights. They look cool, kinda starburst effect, doesn't look like leds. They are not nearly as bright as a plain old bulb. I tried two brands, one with a big center LED and surrounding small, one all small 21 leds. I tried blue xenon hoping for that purple glow blue dots give you. No purple, not as bright as stock. Tried red xenen, same thing, nice deep red but too dim.
I'll get a pic as soon as I get the car out of the shop (master cyl).
Oh, the stock flasher takes 30 sec for each flash. On 30, flash off, on 30... Getting a new electronic flasher. (And that is with only the inner 2 bulbs).
Did I mention what a cast-iron Bi+@& it was changing the bulbs? (I bought a spare tail light and tried them all out on my living room sofa, thank goodness!) It has been 24 hours, most of the red stripes are fading from my forearm... and the dents/creases are practically gone! Yow!
Great design. I think a couple of screws showing wouldn't bother me a bit! :mad
Hi jackj,
Could you tell me where you got your LED lights that you show in this thread? I have a 92 C4 and think they would look good on it.
THanks,
Tnvette :seeya

thats interesting about the flasher.usually the more load you put on the flasher unit the faster it flashes.(like when you plug a trailer into a truck for example).
so if that holds water than you are using lower watt bulbs than stock?
oh and a sidenote-if you drive in the dark much you might concider using replacement halogen bulbs for backup lights.they make a huge difference.
i put em in all the work vans at the utility i work for.
but far as the vette goes, dont much for lights in the land of the midnight sun :)
Well, I bought cheap led replacement bulbs. You can get them on ebay or walmart or discount auto parts. I was looking last night and they do seem bright enough (though the lit up area is half size.) The led lights use much less power. In some carts that means rapid flash, in my 87 vette it means no flash (or one every 30-45 sec). The bulb makers say you can get an electronic flasher at auto parts stores. THEY said 87 vettes HAVE an electronic flasher??? I dunno! I do know at least on bulb maker sells an inline 6ohm/50watt inline finned resistor to make the draw the same. I may try that, or I may try buying a sequential flasher just for fun.
I'll take some pics tonight.
